Moniteau team takes 1st in competition

The Moniteau High School Academic Decathlon Team placed first at the Nov. 20 competition at Mercyhurst College in the first Academic Sports League Competition of the year.

They defeated the second place schools, Youngstown Christian and North Clarion, by more than 2,000 points.

Moniteau won this competition last year.

Sarah Miller earned third place overall out of more than 350 participants.

Tim Shearer earned first place overall in the scholastic division with medals in essay, art, language and literature.

Amanda Mock earned second place overall in the scholastic division.

Clarissa Kimmey, Angela Schandelmeier, Evan Miller, Megan Blauser, Walker Martz, Josh Franiewski, Roman Weingartner, John Klecha, and

John Cravenor contributed to the medal count.The following medals were awarded:
