Linda S. Mertens, 65, of Clay Township passed away Thursday at 10:05 p.m. following complications from a stroke.

Linda was born Jan 2, 1953, in Grove City, to Marlin and Joanne Montgomery Thompson and raised in the Christian faith.

She married William F. Mertens on May 10, 1975.

She graduated from Grove City High School in 1970. She then attended Slippery Rock University and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in political science.

Survivors include her husband, Bill, at home; two sisters, Diana (Don) McDowell of Geneva, Ohio, and Nancy (Richard) Rectenwald of Pittsburgh; and one brother, Ronald (Laura) Thompson of Tequesta, Fla.

Her parents; one sister, Barbara Thompson; and one brother, Robert G. Thompson, preceded Linda in death.
