Vincent P. Lorenz Jr.
Vincent P. Lorenz Jr. 80, of Butler passed away Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Born Aug. 28, 1935, in Monaca, he was a son of the late Vincent P. Lorenz Sr. and Catherine (Hunka) Lorenz.
He was employed as a yardmaster for the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad and was an electrician by trade. He retired in 1996 following 36 years service.
He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 117 in Butler. He had won the middleweight boxing Golden Glove Championship, Southeastern conference and held the title from 1954-1955. He later coached boxing at the Cubs Hall in Butler and enjoyed his camp in Cook Forest.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Surviving is his wife, Sandy (Vokish) Lorenz, who he married April 19, 1975; five children, Cathy (Dexter) Turner of South Carolina, Vincent (Laura) Lorenz of Nevada, Lisa Lorenz and her companion, Dave, Erica (Ryan) Hays of East Butler and Jerry Lorenz and his companion, Kristy, of Butler; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley (David) Zarnick, and a brother, Charles “Bo” Lorenz, both of Butler; numerous nieces and nephews and his Yorkies, Rosie and Peanut.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and a granddaughter.
