Jane Garove Schmidt, 88, of Penn Hills died Saturday at Kane Regional Hospital, Ross Township.

Born Oct. 9, 1918, in Oakmont, she was the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth O'Brien Garove.

She was a retired bookkeeper and enjoyed crocheting and playing bridge.

Mrs. Schmidt was an active member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Verona.

She was the mother of Clark E. Schmidt and his wife, Beth, of Shaler Township and William D. Schmidt and his wife, Kathy, of Mars; and grandmother of David, James, Michael, Matthew, Christina and Abigail Schmidt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Clark Schmidt; and siblings, William Garove, Rita Davis and Betty Juba.
