CHERRY TWP — Residents should expect some roadwork this summer — and more may come pending a grant.

A bid was awarded Tuesday for the tarring and chipping of Pipestem Road, New Hope Road, a section of Pry Road and a small section of Ferguson Road.

Suit Kote Corp. of Meadville, Pa., was awarded the bid, at a total cost of $103,151.

Carolyn Yeager, township secretary and treasurer, said the work could be done at the same time, if all roads can be readied at one time.

“That is the goal,” she said.

The work must be completed by Sept. 15, 2018, according to Yeager.

Yeager said the township also has been assisted by Gateway Engineering in writing for a grant from the Butler County Conservation District. She said Gateway is not bidding or doing any of this road work, only helping with the application.

“We are hoping to do drainage work on South Harrisville (Road,) as well as cleaning ditches and possibly laying down tar and chip,” Yeager said.

She said the project is contingent on the grant's status.

“We may or may not get a grant,” Yeager said.
