SLIPPERY ROCK TWP, Lawrence County — A Cranberry Township man died Friday night when he fell about 40 feet from a hillside in McConnells Mill State Park trying to help an injured teenage girl.

Donald Spillane, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Lawrence County coroner.

Chief Bill Lunn of the Slippery Rock Township Volunteer Fire Department said Saturday Spillane was riding his motorcycle in the park when he heard cries for help near the Kildoo Bridge.

He slipped as he tried to help the teen.
