Few details were available Sunday night about an alleged aggravated assault and burglary at a New Castle Street apartment.

City police responded about 8:15 p.m. for reports of an assault at 717 New Castle St. in Butler.

An officer at the scene confirmed police were searching for a suspect.

A dispatcher with 911 confirmed the victim was transported by ambulance to a Pittsburgh hospital, and that a medical helicopter crew was picked up en route to assist.

Radio traffic reported the victim had severe facial and rib injuries.
