Cranberry to host 'Snow and Tell' event

CRANBERRY TWP — Cranberry's Public Works crews are ready for snowstorms and other weather-related events as they tend to 132 miles of roads, according to township officials.

How crews maintain those roads will be the topic of January's Township Manager's Coffee and Conversation. Additionally, township officials will also explain which roads are not under their care.

Coffee and Conversation will be 6:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Township Public Works Operations Center, located at 20729 Route 19.

The Public Works Department will “snow and tell” about the planning, processes and procedures used when handling winter storms. Workers will share how they remain at the ready when snow starts falling.

The event includes a tour of the township's garage and fleet of vehicles, as well as an outline of which roads are maintained by PennDOT rather than the township.

PennDOT representatives will be on-hand to discuss procedures for maintaining major throughways, including Interstate 79, Routes 19 and 228 and the turnpike.

The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

An RSVP is welcomed, but not required. Call 724-776-4806, ext. 1089, to RSVP.
