John A. Stoops
John A. Stoops, 95, of Renfrew, passed away on Oct. 26, 2021, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Butler, and was the son of the late Arthur M. Stoops and the late Margaret McCandless Stoops.
John worked for 37 years at AK Steel Corp., retiring on Jan. 31, 1986.He was a member of Butler Victory Lodge 272, and the New Castle Consistory.John enjoyed golfing, gardening and reading.He was a graduate of Butler Area Senior High School.John was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, having served in the U.S. and Germany.He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in America, where he served as an elder and a choir member.He is survived by his wife, Reba Jean McCandless Stoops, whom he married on April 21, 1949; one son, Randy (Donna) Stoops of Renfrew; one daughter, Vicki (Jeff) Cessna of Santa Ana, Calif.; four grandchildren, Michael (Jaime) Stoops, Trista Stoops, Drew Cessna and Shannon Cessna; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Stoops and Brielle Stoops; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Mason, Hunter and Carter; one sister, Marilyn R. Stoops of Butler; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Hazel Della Stoops; his son, Glenn Stoops; and one brother, Robert Stoops.STOOPS — Friends of John A. Stoops, who died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in America, 420 N.
