Frank Blawas
Frank Blawas, 80, of Greensburg, formerly of Chicora, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 24, 2021.
He was born Dec. 8, 1940, in Manor, Pa., and was the son of the late Kenneth C. and Frances (Kush) Blawas.
Frank was a retired manager for Wendy’s of Greater Pittsburgh, with 30 years of service. He opened the first Wendy’s Restaurant in the Pittsburgh area in North Versailles. He was a retired toll collector for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
Frank was a caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Some of his favorite times were spent with his late wife, dancing, traveling and going to casinos. After his retirement, he discovered new found enjoyment in nature, animals, fishing, boating and playing cards with his family.
His kindness and generosity will be missed by many.
Frank was a member of the Penn Rod and Gun Club and the Hempfield Alumni Association. He was a member of the first championship football team at Hempfield High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Kiggins) Blawas; a granddaughter, Jessica Blawas; a brother, Kenneth S. Blawas; and a brother-in-law, John Andrighetti.
Surviving are five children, Jack Blawas, Denise White and her husband, Michael, Frank K. Blawas and his wife, Sandra, Lori Shafer, and David Blawas and his wife, Angela; his grandchildren, Jason Blawas (Gabriella), Lyace Cycak, Shannon Shafer, David Shafer, Paige Kelly (Nick), David Blawas, Brian Blawas and Stephanie Blawas; eight great-grandchildren; his sisters, Frances Karol (Robert), Mary Andrighetti; a sister-in-law, Janet (O’Neal) Blawas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
BLAWAS — Friends of Frank Blawas, who died Monday, May 24, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ott Funeral Home, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin.
A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
