Matthew L. Strawbridge
Matthew L. Strawbridge, 46, of Prospect, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021.
He was the beloved son of Lester and Lori (Holden) Strawbridge.
Born Jan. 4, 1975, in Butler, Matt graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1993, and married the love of his life, Shannon (Ordy) Strawbridge on Aug. 23, 2008.
Matt was a hard worker and a wonderful provider for his family. He was employed by AK Steel for the past 10 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, kayaking, golfing, hot tubbing, campfires and anything outdoors. Matt also loved cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Pirates. He was an avid collector of baseball cards and WWE memorabilia.
He also cherished spending time with great friends. He and Shannon loved enjoying craft beers and delicious pizza on date nights at Missing Links Brewery. Matt was always up for a good time!
Above all, Matt’s proudest accomplishment and most treasured time was spent with his wife and children. He loved watching his daughter do gymnastics, cheer and play soccer. Matt also loved watching his son play basketball and football. He was the most supportive and encouraging father anyone could ever ask for. The three of them also loved fishing in the pond behind their home. They have so many wonderful memories to cherish.
Matt was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to all, who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
Matthew leaves behind his wife of 12 years, Shannon (Ordy) Strawbridge; his children, Brianna Nicole Reed, (22); Kendall Ryan Strawbridge, (11); and Jamison Matthew Strawbridge, (8); his parents, Lester and Lori Strawbridge of Butler; his siblings, Amy (Tim) Koch of Voorhees, N.J., David (Wheat) Strawbridge of Butler, and Sunny (Chris) Lee of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert J. and Sharon Ordy; his sister-in-law, Leslie (David) Spinneweber of Butler; his brother-in-law, Robert C. (Tammy) Ordy of Butler; his nieces and nephews, Tanner, Trey, Abby, Jadyn, Athena, Kala (Cole), Haley (Danny), Madison, Brandon, Seth, Grant and Evan; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Mya, Brielle, Crew, Henry, Conor and Vada.
Matt was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lester and Eleanor Strawbridge; his maternal grandparents, David and Helen Holden; and his uncle, Nick Studnicki.
STRAWBRIDGE — Family and friends of Matthew L. Strawbridge, who died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.
A celebration of Matt’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., Butler.
Matt will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Burial Estates in Butler.
