Some Chicora Elementary School students were unable to take the school bus home this afternoon after a car crash on Chicora-Fenelton and Hildebrand Roads.

Bus 5, as the transportation line is known, is unable to safely navigate the accident scene at the intersection, according to Mike Stimac, the principal, and transportation director of the school's Sugar Creek branch.

“It's just a precautionary measure,” Stimac said. He made the announcement after 3 p.m., sending an automated call to parents of the school's children. Stimac estimated that the delay will inconvenience about 25 children.

“We've kept the children with a supervised group and have asked parents to come pick the students up from Chicora Elementary,” Stimac said.

Butler State Police confirmed that they were investigating a crash at the intersection there but could not provide any further information nor would they say if anybody was hurt in the accident.
