Ronald W. “Bones” McElhinny, 83, of Evans City, passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 17, 2019, at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Born Sept. 7, 1936, in Forward Township, he was the son of the late Paul J. and Elizabeth Hutchinson McElhinny.

Ron had retired in 1998 from West Penn Power with 30 years as a lineman.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a seaman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred “Millie” Dague McElhinny, whom he married Aug. 23, 1958, and who passed away on Sept. 28, 2018.

Ron is survived by one daughter, Joan E. (Geary) Hatfield of Butler; three sons, Michael (Laura Pushak) McElhinny and Joseph (Vonda) McElhinny, both of Butler, and James McElhinny of Evans City; two sisters, Betsy Darling of New York, and Patrice (William) Hughes of Delaware; three brothers, Jerome (Marilyn) McElhinny, Zeno (Becky) McElhinny and John (Carole) McElhinny, all of Evans City, eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a best friend, Betty Lubbert of Valencia; and a special caregiver, Becky Hartzel.

MCELHINNY — The family of Ronald W. “Bones” McElhinny, who died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 328 W. Main St., Evans City.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Tom Harmon officiating.He will be laid to rest in Brownsdale Cemetery in Renfrew.The family has suggested memorial donations be made to the 4-H Butler County Youth, c/o Jean H.
