PITTSBURGH — Longtime Pittsburgh Pirates media relations man Jim Trdinich is changing his role within the organization.

Trdinich, employed by the Pirates for 33 years, has been the team’s director of baseball conmmunications. His new role will be that of Pirates’ historian, a newly created position.

The Pirates are starting a team Hall of Fame in August and much of Trdinich’s iocus will be on that.

“As a team with 135 years of history, we have a critical need to prioritize the way in which we curate and celebrate that history,” Trdinich said in a statement to the media. “We are currently working through improvement plans at PNC Park that will include showcasing our history.”

Seneca Valley graduate Dan Hart will maintain his role as Director of Media Relations for the Pirates.

Trdinich is a Slippery Rock University graduate.
