CHERRY TWP — Unionville Volunteer Fire Department dive team members have joined state police in the search for a missing middle-aged man on state gamelands.

The man, who is from the Slippery Rock Township area, has been missing for three days, police said.

He was last seen at one of the addresses he uses, according to authorities. His cell phone was turned off around the time he went missing.

“We are concerned for his well being,” said police Cpl. Tim Morando.

Foul play is not suspected.

Police found the man's silver, 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer around 9:30 a.m. in a parking area along Branchton Road on Pennsylvania Game Commission property near Route 308 in Washington Township, Morando said.

There was no one in or around the vehicle, which was locked. Police said they planned to tow it to the barracks in Butler Township and they expect to obtain a search warrant to comb the vehicle for clues.

At first glance, Morando said, there did not appear to be anything suspicious in the vehicle.

About 10 troopers joined in the search this morning. A police tracking/cadaver dog was used in the search.

As of 2:30 p.m., one officer and the dog were still searching.

Divers were recently deployed to search two ice-encrusted strip mine ponds in the area.
