Dandoy, Walter, Bonus begin terms in Butler
Newly elected Butler City Councilman Robert Dandoy and incumbent Michael Walter were sworn in to office during council's reorganization meeting Monday morning.
Mayor Ben Smith administered the oath of office to Dandoy, who was elected to his first term in November; Walter, who was elected to a second term; and Treasurer Aaron Bonus, who was elected to his first full term after being appointed to serve the remainder of an unexpired term last year.
Dandoy was assigned to serve as the director of public safety, which oversees the Butler Bureau of Fire, and as the liaison for the zoning hearing board, code management appeals board and Butler Area Public Library.
Walter retained his assignment as the director of accounts and finance and as the liaison for the Butler County/City Connoquenessing Creek Flood Control Authority, pension investment advisory board and bicycle advisory committee.
Councilman Jeff Smith retained his assignment as the director of parks and public property and as the liaison for the parks, recreation, grounds and facilities authority and was assigned as the liaison for the Butler Area Sewer Authority.
Councilman Kenny Bonus retained his assignment as the director of streets and public improvements and as the liaison for the Butler Area Multi-Municipal Plan oversight committee.
Ben Smith retained his assignment as the liaison for the Butler Redevelopment Authority and the planning and zoning commission. He also supervises the police department.
In other business, Ben Smith appointed Emmalee Herndon to the Butler City Parks, Recreation Grounds & Facilities Authority to fill the term of Phillip Lefevre whose term expires Jan. 1, 2021.
