No one was injured early Thursday morning when a suspected drunken driver slammed into a utility pole on the 100 block of Pillow Street in Butler, authorities said.

The crash, which occurred around 2:20 a.m., broke the pole owned by CenturyLink.

City police said charges of driving under the influence are pending against the suspect, Megan Geibel, 26, of Cheswick, Allegheny County.

Geibel was coming from Hansen Avenue when she lost control of her Jeep Renegade, police said. She told officers that she fell asleep while driving, according to a police news release.

The pole was broken just above impact with the vehicle, which sustained heavy front-end damage.

Police said Geibel admitted that she had been drinking before the crash. She was later taken to the station for a breath test that showed her blood-alcohol level was between 0.10 and 0.159 percent.

A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

She is facing charges of DUI and driving at an unsafe speed.

Police contacted CenturyLink about the damaged pole, and a crew later repaired it. The Jeep also had to be towed.

The Butler Fire Department assisted police at the scene.
