Clarion County man killed in fiery crash

PORTER TWP, Clarion County — A 21-year-old man died early Saturday morning after the vehicle he was driving overturned and caught fire on Route 66.

According to state police, Bela A. Jobb of Strattanville, Clarion County, was driving north on Route 66 at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when he crossed into the southbound lane, abruptly swerved in the correct direction and struck an upward embankment just north of Champion Road.

After striking the embankment, his vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, hit a tree and overturned, landing upside-down on the right shoulder, facing north.

After the vehicle landed, it caught on fire. The New Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the fire.

The acting Clarion County Coroner Daniel Shingledecker said Jobb died inside the vehicle.

Jobb, state police say, was not wearing a seat belt.
