Henry Paul Downing
Henry Paul Downing, 74, of Prospect passed away Sunday morning at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler, following an illness.
Born Oct. 6, 1942, in Toby Township, Clarion County, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Juanita E. Womeldorf Downing.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Butler.
He worked 21 years as a drawbench operator at Halstead's until its closing, and then worked as maintenance at the former Eastwood Village Inn.
He enjoyed woodworking, watching westerns, antique cars and car shows.
Henry is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Pizer Downing, who he married Feb. 1, 1964; three sons, Henry Paul Downing Jr. and his wife, Melony, of Butler, Robert F. Downing of Prospect and Randy L. Downing of Prospect; four grandchildren, Andrew Hemphill and Michael Hemphill of Slippery Rock, Sarah Downing of Prospect and Jesse Downing of Butler; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Jean Hemphill; two sisters, Lela Malinda Beary and Betty Jane Downing; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
DOWNING — Visitation for Henry Paul Downing, who died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect.
