An accident on Wednesday afternoon in the city sent an elderly woman to the hospital.

An elderly woman was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital early Wednesday afternoon after a collision between her Hyundai Elantra and a Jeep Wrangler at the intersection of South Main Street and Pittsburgh Road.

The Wrangler's front bumper was pushed into the trunk of the Elantra. The Elantra appeared to be turning right from Pittsburgh Road just past the former Caper's Realty office onto South Main Street hill when the Jeep struck it.

Details, including the drivers' names and whether any citations were issued, were not immediately available.
