Richard A. Eakin
Richard A. Eakin, 83, of Butler passed away Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born June 18, 1933, in Butler, to the late Arnold Eakin and the late Myrtle (Barber) Eakin.
Richard was a heavy equipment operator for several years at Harsco, retiring in 1995. He was Protestant. Richard was a member of the Happy Hunters Sportsman and the Chicora Moose. He was a life member of the East Butler VFD and the 272 Butler Lodge F&AM. Richard especially enjoyed farming and pony pulling.
He is survived by his wife, Lois (Collins) Eakin of 34 years, who he married July 25, 1981; one son, Kent Eakin and his wife, Lori, of Herman; three grandchildren, Nathan, Patricia and Allison; four great-grandchildren, Isabella, Lane, Isaac and Hanna; and one sister-in-law, Pat Eakin of Lucinda.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia J. Eakin; his son, Courtney Eakin; one brother, Gordon Eakin; and one sister, Arlene Rensel.
EAKIN — Friends of Richard A. Eakin, who died Thursday, July 21, 2016, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. A blessing service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Harry Bielewicz officiating.
