John P. Bartley

John P. Bartley, 90, of Butler passed away Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born June 9, 1927, in Middlesex Township, he was a son of the late Paul and Nettie Bartley.

John attended Mars High School and in his senior year was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve in World War II. After World War II ended, he was stationed in Korea.

He started his career at Butler Armco at age 17. He retired from Armco with 43 years of service.

He was a member of Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church, where he was an usher.

John and his wife owned rental garages for 45 years. He also had a dump truck and for 60 years performed hauling jobs for many customers.

He served on the Armco Veterans Picnic Committee for many years. He volunteered at the South Butler Fire Department fish dinners and for the Catholic Daughters of America.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Steighner Bartley, to whom he was married for 68 years; six children, Anna Mae Rock and her husband, Steve, of Butler, Paul Bartley and his wife, Kathy, of Valencia, Deborah Ferriero and her husband, Joseph, of Export, Larry Bartley and his wife, Lorie, of East Butler, Eileen Moore and her husband, Troy, of Woodbridge, Va., and David Bartley and his wife, Barb, of Irwin; and one brother Laverne Bartley of Valencia.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Jeremy Rock, Michael Rock and his wife, Brandy, Julie Collins and her husband, Matt, Jeffrey Bartley and his wife, Angela, Lisa Linamen and her husband, Adam, Brian Bartley and his wife, Krista, Joey Ferriero, Danny Ferriero, Nathan Bartley and his wife, Kristina, Matthew Bartley and his wife, Shelby, Melissa Bartley, Mikayla Moore, Marlee Moore and Jenna Bartley; and 14 great-grandchildren Kaden Rock, Maddy Rock, Julius Collins, Ryan Collins, Ike Collins, Brady Linamen, Bella Linamen, Kaylee Bartley, Travis Bartley, Paxton Bartley, Julia Dupe, Quinn Bartley, Zivah Bartley and Danica Bartley.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Joshua Bartley; one great-granddaughter, Emily Marie Linamen; and one sister Glenna Duke.

BARTLEY — Friends of John P. Bartley, who died Thursday, July 13, 2017, will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler. Burial will take place at Saint Peter's Cemetery.The Women's Council of Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church will meet at the church at 9:35 a.m. Monday to recite the rosary.Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by American Legion Post 117, VFW Post 249 and American Legion Post 778.The family requests memorial donations to Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin Street, Butler, PA 16001 or to Good Samaritan Hospice at Cabot, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.For more information, visit www.martinfh.net.
