The free Outdoor Discovery series at Alameda Park, conducted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, will present “Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!” tonight and “Let There Be Slime Animals” on July 27. Programs are at 6:30 p.m. in the Carousel Shelter. Call 724-284-5383.

Nautical Nature, the pontoon boat at Moraine State Park, operates cruises on Lake Arthur at 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. For reservations, call 724-368-9185.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will host Celebrate the Bloom! Summer Festival from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 29 and free prairie walks at 2 p.m. July 30 and Aug. 6. Jennings is open regularly from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Visit www.events.dcnr.pa.gov or call 724-794-6011.

Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township will host “Frogs and Toads of Pa.” at 8 p.m. July 28 in the outdoor classroom on the North Shore and “Explore Offshore” kayaking at 9:30 a.m. July 30 (registration necessary). Call 724-368-3612 or 724-368-8811.

McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County off Route 422, will have a tree identification hike at 4 p.m. Friday. The mill is open 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily except closed Mondays. Tours are available at 1 and 2 p.m. Call 724-368-8811 or 724-368-3612.
