Butler Downtown has selected four new members to serve three-year terms on its board of directors, and it appointed officers for 2010.

The new board members are Ronald Germani, Chelynne Kramer, Jill Kraus, and Thomas Panei.

The 2010 executive officers are Brian McCafferty, president; Cathy Glasgow, vice president; Jonathan Dreher, second vice president; Stan Kosciuszko, treasurer, and Joseph Gray, immediate past-president.

Butler Downtown is a group of people working with city administrators, downtown businesses and organizations, and residents to create a more vibrant downtown.

Butler Downtown also announced that it received a positive second year assessment from the Pennsylvania Downtown Center as a state-certified "Main Street Community."

The assessment means Butler Downtown will continue to get state funding.

Main Street Manager Becky Smith said in a statement, "We're particularly proud of new programs to help local businesses, like the Facade Improvement Program and new LERTA tax abatement, as well as events like the walking and trolley tours. We plan to achieve even more in 2010."
