Passenger hurt in Summit Twp. crash

A passenger was treated for a shoulder injury after two cars collided Sunday afternoon in Summit Township.

A Dodge Nitro slammed into a Kia Sorento at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Protzman and Herman roads in Summit Township, according to State Police.

Police said the man driving the Nitro failed to stop the vehicle at a stop sign at the bottom of the hill leading to the intersection.

Neither driver was hurt from the crash, but a third person, a passenger in the Sorento, suffered a shoulder injury described as minor, that was treated at the scene by EMS, according to police.

Both airbags deployed. Both vehicles were towed.

Herman Volunteer Fire Department firefighters directed traffic at the intersection, which restricted flow for about one hour.
