Deborah Ann Smith
Deborah Ann Smith, 65, of Spring Township, Pa., passed away into Eternal Paradise at 11:35 a.m. Saturday at Reading Hospital while surrounded by many loving family members and friends.
She was the wife of the late Gary Neil Smith, who passed away Aug. 8, 2011.
Born in Butler, she was the daughter of Florence Elizabeth (Mercurio) Thompson of Butler and the late George Elias Thompson.
She was a 1968 graduate of Butler High School and attended the John Power Career Academy in Pittsburgh.
Deborah was a member of the Saint Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church and was an aide in many capacities for the Wilson School District from 1992 to 2009.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew Ryan Smith, husband of Stephanie Smith, of Ontelaunee Township and Jordan Patrick Smith, husband of Ara Germaine Smith, of Bern Township.
She also is survived by her brother, Buddy Thompson of Butler, and her sister, Cynthia Schmidt, wife of Michael Schmidt, also of Butler.
During her teenage years and into her young adulthood, Deborah was a member of the color guard in the Catholic Daughters of America.
Deborah enjoyed shopping, reading, gardening, listening to the radio, floral arrangements, sending greeting cards to her many friends and family members and burning candles and scented tarts.
She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and purple was her favorite color. Her children and her daughters-in-law were her life and brought her tremendous amounts of pride, joy and happiness. She also loved her caregiver, Ruth Jacobs of Yeadon, Pa., so very much as they developed a very special bond over the years.
Deborah's family would also like to thank Griswold Home Care of Wyomissing, Pa., as well as Assured Assistance of Shillington, Pa., for tending to Deborah's needs and making sure she received the tender loving care she most certainly deserved.
SMITH — The family of Deborah Ann Smith, who died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring.A prayer service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
