Josephine G. Gaul

Josephine G. Gaul, 83, of Valencia, passed away on May 24, 2021.

Born on April 4, 1938, in Bairdford, Pa., she was the daughter of Joseph Brudney and Mary Zilka.

Jo graduated from West Deer Township High School in 1956, went on to the University of Pittsburgh, and graduated from the Lillian S. Kaufman School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1959.

Jo married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Gaul, on Aug. 3, 1963. They were stationed in Germany, and she became the chief nurse at the Zweibrücken Germany Dispensary at the age of 25. She went on to hold various nursing positions in Pittsburgh, and retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Oakland. During her esteemed nursing career, she received many awards, including “The Heroic Act Award,” presented at the Excellence in Government Program.

Josephine had been a member of Holy Sepulcher Church in Middlesex Township for over 50 years. There, she served as eucharistic minister, was a member of the pastoral parish council and was president of the Senior Sociables group. She also served as a member of the Middlesex Township Planning Commission, and volunteered countless hours at the Mars Area School District as a room parent and football booster, to name a few.

Surviving are her husband, Raymond Gaul; her daughter, Nicole (John) Righini of Edina, Minn.; her son, Aaron Gaul of Mars; her sister, Dorothy Hannes of Amherst, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Francesca, Luca, Paolo and Alessandra.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Brudney; her mother, Mary Zilka; her sister, Dolores Worcester; and her brother, Leonard Brudney.

GAUL — Friends of Josephine G. Gaul, who died Monday, May 24, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.

A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Bober officiating.

Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Society.
