Less spent in fall contest
Candidates for Butler County commissioner generally have spent less money running in the Nov. 3 election than they did in the May primary.
Republicans Leslie Osche and Kim Geyer, Democrats Jerry Johnston and Kevin Boozel, and the Green Party’s Michael Bagdes-Canning are competing for the three county commissioner seats.
Osche and Boozel are the top two spenders with Osche’s campaign spending $8,817 and Osche herself spending $5,858. Boozel’s campaign has spent $13,927.
Friday was the deadline for candidates to turn in their campaign finance reports.
It was in the spring when the candidates spent the most money.
During the pre-Election Day reporting period for the primary which ended May 4, Osche raised $26,915 and spent $21,575, as well as $8,000 of her own money. Geyer raised $23,800 and spent $19,487, as well as $16,500 of her own money
Johnston raised $5,327 and spent $8,056 at that time, and Boozel raised $6,772 and spent $6,322.
Bagdes-Canning did not run in the primary.
Now in the fall, here is what candidates have received and spent, according to their just filed campaign reports.
Leslie Osche
The Committee to Elect Leslie Osche raised $15,709 between June 9 and Oct. 19, and brought forward $1,752 from the last reporting period. It spent $8,644 and has $8,817 left. It also has $14,800 in unpaid debts and obligations.
Additionally, Osche spent $5,858 of her own money.
Osche and her husband donated $800 to the campaign. Here are other contributions of $200 or more for Osche:

It also received an in-kind contribution valued at $250, representing a discount on shirts from Titler’s Special Tees of Lyndora.
The committee owes $14,800 to Osche for campaign loans.
Of the money Osche herself spent, $2,102 went to the Butler Eagle for advertising, $2,010 went to the Butler Media Group for advertising and she gave $800 in loans to her election committee.
Kim Geyer
The Friends of Kim Geyer raised $9,000 between June 27 and Oct. 19, and brought forward $954 from the last reporting period. It spent $5,549 and has $4,405 left.
