Bernadette Genser
Bernadette Genser, 94, of Zelienople, formerly of Ross Township, passed away on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021. Under the care of Passavant Retirement Community since 2014, she fought a long and courageous battle with dementia.
Born May 18, 1927, in the Spring Hill area of Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Frank Urschler and Catherine Newman Urschler.
Bernadette was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in West View.
As a caregiver to everyone, she will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her three children, Kathleen (Robert) McLaughlin of Cranberry Township, Michael Genser of Slippery Rock, and Faith Genser of Zelienople; and her two grandchildren, Cory (Anna) and Chelsie McLaughlin.
In addition to her parents, Bernadette was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Genser, who passed away Aug. 8, 2006; and her brother, Melvin Urschler, also a resident of Passavant and a daily presence in her life until his death on Dec. 27, 2020.
GENSER — Visitation for Bernadette Genser, who died Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. Mary's Cemetery, Reserve Township, 4000 Mount Troy Road, Pittsburgh.
