Sox drop 5th straight game

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Butler BlueSox continue to limp toward the finish line.

The Sox managed just five hits — all singles — while committing three errors in their fifth straight loss, a 7-0 Prospect League defeat to Champion City Monday night.

Cole Shinsky got the start for Butler and lasted four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits. He struck out three and walked three.

Kellen Sarver singled twice for Butler (21-35).

Doug Smith started on the mound for the Kings (24-29) and pitched six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and no walks. He left the game with a 7-0 lead.

Butler finishes the season with four straight games against West Virginia, on the road Tuesday and Wednesday and at Kelly Automotive Park Thursday and Friday.
