Electric company crews working to restore outages throughout the county due to high winds and storms on Thursday night could be hampered by even more severe weather today.

National Weather Service meteorologist Lee Hendricks said while 18 severe thunderstorm warnings were issued in Western Pennsylvania beginning on Thursday evening, the warnings started again Friday morning just before 9 a.m.

Hendricks said the chance of rain today is forecast at 90% with thunderstorms in the morning and afternoon.

“Some will produce heavy rainfall,” he said. “We’re in for wet weather from tonight through Saturday night.”

He advises residents not to ignore the warnings.

“Be vigilant and aware of your surroundings,” he said.

Additional storms today could hamper the work of electric company crews, who are working to restore power to hundreds of customers in the county.

The severe weather from Thursday is expected to carry over into the weekend.
