Small biz, nonprofit grants available

Butler County is accepting U.S. CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) grant applications from nonprofit organizations and small businesses to alleviate the financial impacts from the coronavirus pandemic.

Among the eligible use of funds are payroll costs, continuation of group healthcare benefits, rent, utility payments, working capital covering reopening costs and expenses related to implementing measures in response to COVID-19.

Of the total $17 million in CARES funding received by the county, $1.5 million is allotted for nonprofit organizations with eligible expenses.

The application period begins 8 a.m. Sept. 9 and the deadline is 5 p.m. Sept. 16.

The maximum amount available to each organization is $10,000.

Eligible nonprofit applicants must be operating and deliver services in Butler County, and must have been in operation no later than February 15, 2020.
