The Karns City Area School Board appointed Robert Stiehler to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Bryan Fleeger, who served on the board for 12 years.

Board members approved the appointment at a special meeting Monday. Stiehler's appointment ends in December 2021.

Fleeger's resignation was accepted at a Dec. 5 board meeting, which included the annual reorganization meeting.

Matt Bishop was elected board president, and Charlie Johns was elected vice president. Board member Anita Orozco was elected as the district's representative on the Butler County Area Vocational-Technical board of directors.

The board also approved its 2020 meeting schedule. Agenda-setting meetings start at 6 p.m. and regular meetings start at 8:30 p.m. The meeting dates, which vary, will be posted on the district website.

Butler Transit Authority buses will operate on a limited schedule on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and will not operate on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.On Dec. 24 and 31, the local bus service Routes 1, 2/4 and 3 will end after trip eight. Route 5 will end after trip seven.For the commuter service between Butler and Pittsburgh, all morning trips will run as usual. Afternoon trips Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 will only be East Busway Section D at 4:45 p.m. (Route 3) to the Route 528 Park N Ride and East Busway Section D at 4:30 p.m. (Route 1) to Route 8.
