A Butler man who was flown by medical helicopter from the scene of a vehicle accident earlier this month died from his injuries.

Donald Roberts, 92, of Butler died March 7 at Allegheny General Hospital of complications from blunt force trauma he suffered in a vehicle accident March 3, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office.

Roberts, driving a Toyota Prius at 11:33 a.m., was attempting to make a left turn from Game Reserve Road onto Route 422 eastbound in Clearfield Township, according to state police.

His car struck a Cadillac Escalade being driven eastbound by John Aubrey Jr., 33, of Butler, police said. Aubrey and a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old inside the Cadillac were not injured.

Police said Roberts was at fault in the accident. He allegedly committed summary offenses for vehicle turning left and careless driving.

Roberts was flown to Allegheny General via Life Flight helicopter. The East Butler Fire Department and Butler Ambulance Service responded to the accident.

Roberts, a native of West Virginia, was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy, according to his obituary.
