Bucs claim Perez from Tampa Bay
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed catcher Michael Perez off waivers Friday from the Tampa Bay Rays.
Perez, 28, appeared in a career-high 38 games in 2020 for Tampa Bay, collecting 13 RBI. He had two hits in seven at bats during postseason play.
The Pirates outrighted infielder Kevin Kramer, catchers Luke Maile and John Ryan Murphy, pitcher Yacksel Rios and outfielder Jason Martin from their 40-man roster.
The Twins claimed LHP Brandon Waddell and the Mets claimed RHP Nick Tropeano off the Pirates roster.
