Police seek help in robbery

SLIPPERY ROCK — Police are seeking the public's help following a strong-armed robbery at an apartment complex in Slippery Rock.

Police were called by staff at Grove City Medical Center early Friday. According to state police, hospital staff reported treating a 24-year-old Pittsburgh man with a head wound.

“We believe the victim was the target,” said Cpl. Tim Morando, an investigator with the state police, adding that the victim was one of up to five people involved.

Morando said police have suspects, but no one is in custody as authorities continue their investigation, including interviews with several people.

Police report the man is listed in serious condition with a skull fracture.

Police declined to comment on a motive for the attack.

Troopers spoke to the victim at the medical center before he was transported by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital. Investigators planned to interview the victim again.

According to a campuswide email sent to students and faculty at SRU, the robbery occurred at The Grove apartments on Harmony Road.

The victim was not a student at the university, the alert reported. There is no current threat to the community, according to the alert.

Police asked anyone with information to call them at 724-284-8100.
