GRADUTES
Melisa Steighner of State College graduated from Penn State University with a Master of Science degree in materials science and engineering.Her thesis dissertation topic was the tensile strength of silicon nanowires and was funded by an NSF grant and a Bayer Fellowship.She is currently pursuing a doctorate in materials science and engineering at Penn State University, where she will expand upon her master's research.She is a 2003 graduate of Butler High School and a 2007 graduate of Bucknell University, where she received a bachelor's degree in physics. She is the daughter of Dave and Pam Steighner of Renfrew.The Butler Eagle publishes announcements of awards or honors received by area residents or organizations.
