Penn State off to NIT final
NEW YORK — Penn State jumped out to a 34-11 lead at one point and cruised to a 75-60 win over Mississippi State Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden in the semifinals of the National Invitational Tournament.
Penn State will play Utah in the title game Thursday.
Tony Carr scored 21 points to lead the Nittany Lions.
Shep Garner added 18 points and Lamar Stevens 17 for Penn State.
Utah 69, Western Kentucky 64
Justin Bibbins scored 19 points and Utah beat Western Kentucky in an NIT semifinal.
Sedrick Barefield added 14 points for the Utes (23-11), who advanced to the NIT championship game for the third time. They will play Thursday night against Penn State.
David Collette added 13 points and seven rebounds for Utah.
