CHICORA — Chicora Elementary School students collected items for homeless veterans at the Mechling-Shakley Veterans Center near Cowansville. The children collected 437 food items, 151 tubes of toothpaste, 97 toothbrushes, 80 bars of soap, 54 sticks of deodorant, 33 bottles of shampoo, 40 hats and 48 pairs of gloves.
That’s 940 items collected before the school Veterans Day Assembly on Nov. 8.
