Family of shooting vitctim to host blood drive
The family of Heath Schrechengost, who is home after being shot in a Chicora bar last month, will be hosting a community blood drive on Oct. 21.
“Everything was handled so wonderfully at Presby, and the blood bank was there for Heath, so we as a family wanted to replenish the local blood supply and show some support for Heath at the same time,” said Taryn Best, Heath's cousin, in a press release.
The drive will occur Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Petrolia Social Hall, 200 Argyle Street, Petrolia. The blood drive will be conducted by Vitalant (formerly Central Blood Bank).
To schedule an appointment, donors can visit the website vitalant.org or call 877-25 VITAL (84825). The Central Blood Bank donor mobile app also is still available for scheduling.
