Uhl announces city council run
Travis Uhl, a veteran and business owner, said he is seeking the Republican Party nomination to run for a seat on Butler City Council.
A Moniteau High School graduate, Uhl served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Iraq in 2003.
He is the owner and operator of J&J Technical Electric Contracting in Butler.
Uhl, his wife Courtney, and their daughter Sawyer have lived in the city for four years.
He said he is excited at the prospect of working with the current mayor and council to address the city’s economic challenges.
“I really like the fact that the mayor and council seem to be working together as a team. As a business owner with 12 employees, I know how important teamwork is. I believe that I will fit in very well as a part of that team,” Uhl said.
Two positions on council are open in this year’s election.
Councilman Michael Walter, the director of accounts and finance, said he is running for a second term in office on the Republican ballot.
Bob Dandoy, a retired teacher and former member of Butler Downtown, is running on the Democratic ticket.
Councilman Corey Roche said he is not running for a second term.
