Frances Borrebach

Frances Lear (Gibson) Borrebach, 96, passed away on Jan. 25, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Cranberry Township.

Born in Harlingen, Texas, she was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Lola Lear; her beloved husbands, Robert Park Gibson (53 years) and Edwin John Borrebach (18 years); and her much-loved brother, Norman Joe Lear Sr.

Frances “Pug” is survived by three children, Carol Wilson, Edith Sutton (Steven) and Neil Gibson; six grandchildren, Lesley Forrester, Samantha Wilson (Donald Sheldon), Tyler Sutton, Emily Sutton, Jason Gibson and Carissa Gibson Darm (Rickard); and eight great-grandchildren, Dawn Elizabeth, Richard, Krystelle, Elliot, Edan, Cinneide, Rickard and Henry. She is also survived by extended Borrebach “bonus family” by marriage, including David (Margaret Kinsky), Jean (Vann Weldon), Donald (Carol Javna) and James (Janet); 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Following World War II, she and Bob raised their family in Edgewood. During the 1960s and 1970s, Frances worked as the administrative assistant to the vice chancellor of academic affairs at Carnegie Mellon University.

She loved to entertain family and friends, and was known for her warmth and enthusiasm. She took special joy in traveling with Ed, both in the U.S. and abroad.

BORREBACH — A public memorial celebration will be held later in the year for Frances Lear (Gibson) Borrebach, who died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the Sherwood Oaks Scholarship Fund, 100 Norman Drive, Cranberry Township, PA 16066, or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
