Commission looks at sketch plan for Domino's
ADAMS TWP — Members of the planning commission saw a few new names on Wednesday night's agenda, including a sketch plan for a potential Domino's Pizza.
“It's time we came to Mars,” said Khurram Ali, a spokesman for the plan.
According to Ali, Domino's is looking at a warehouse in Adams Township along Mars Valencia Road at the Route 228 intersection. The location is mostly being used for storage now.
“It's probably a good place for it,” said Martin McKinney, planning commission chairman. “We want to bring some business in.”
The warehouse could be divided “down the middle,” according to Ali, for a Domino's pick-up location and store. Ali said an ADA-compliant ramp and vestibule would be installed for accessing the location.
“(It's) pretty much a simple layout,” Ali said.
The parking lot at the warehouse is currently gravel, but Ali said the location would be paved. A tractor trailer would unload at the site a few nights per week, according to Ali.
Ali said plan representatives have already spoken to Penn Power about the proposed location. McKinney reminded Ali that Mars Valencia Road is maintained by PennDOT.
“A change of business may trigger a driveway permit,” McKinney said.
Ron Olsen, township engineer, added the location's proximity to a high traffic area might result in an impact fee.
Members of the planning commission said they would look for a formal plan on a future planning commission agenda.
Before the meeting concluded, McKinney announced a public educational roundtable is scheduled for 5 p.m. Oct. 13 at the township building.
The roundtable will be used to inform citizens on the planning process for property development. Attendance will be limited to 25 people in accordance with pandemic restrictions. Three planning commission members and two supervisors are expected to attend.
