Middlesex supervisors discuss possible building updates
MIDDLESEX TWP — Township manager Adam Hartwig asked supervisors Wednesday night during their work session to consider ways the township building can be updated.
Foremost on his list of areas to look at was the addition of more filing space.
“We're out of physical file storage space,” Hartwig said.
Hartwig said while the township has been able to convert many files to electronic formats, it still needs to have hard copies of many documents on-site.
Hartwig suggested the township meeting room could be altered to allow for additional storage.
Offering a few ideas about how the room could be expanded, Hartwig told supervisors he'd like to take a closer look at the options. The township continues to receive and generate documentation for various township projects and business.
“We've got to start thinking about how we're going to address that,” Hartwig said. “I can figure out the measurements.”
Hartwig also said the township building's air conditioning unit is loud in the meeting room. Supervisors discussed the potential for a new furnace and in-floor heating instead of wall radiators, and how that would affect possibilities for expanding file storage.
Mike Spreng, supervisors chairman, said installing new heating in the floor would be an extensive project.
Hartwig said he wanted to bring things to the supervisors' attention and didn't expect any immediate decisions.
“(These are) things that we don't have to do all at once,” Hartwig said. “I just want to start the discussion.”
“Let's think about it,” said Donald Marshall, vice chairman.
Supervisors said they'd begin measuring the meeting room and looking into possible renovations.
