Butler ignores wintry conditions in 10-0 win

Butler's Grant Metzger (14) makes contact against Vincentian Academy during the Golden Tornado's 10-0 baseball win in frigid conditions Wednesday night at Kelly Automotove Park.

This wasn't a normal baseball game.

There were wind-blown infield doubles.

There were two snow delays.

There was a triple into the gap that got lost in a snow squall.

Despite conditions better suited for football and pond hockey than baseball, Butler responded well to the difficult conditions with a 10-0, six-inning win over Vincentian Academy Wednesday night at Kelly Automotive Park.

“When we got here, I told the guys, 'I don't want to hear it's cold,'” said Butler coach Cody Herald. “We've been really trying to beat into their heads that there's things that you can control and things that you can't control. You can't control a call at the plate or on the bases and you can't control the weather. But you can control how you react to it.”

The Golden Tornado (3-0) reacted well.
