CRANBERRY TWP — A suspected drug dealer who allegedly sold heroin in a restaurant parking lot was arrested and arraigned Friday on felony charges.

Nathaniel Caldwell Jr., 50, of Pittsburgh was investigated by the Butler County Drug Task Force after officers heard last month that he was allegedly selling heroin in the parking lot of Houlihan’s restaurant on Route 19.

A confidential informant and an undercover officer allegedly arranged a meeting with Caldwell on the night of Feb. 17 in the parking lot. After giving him $700, he allegedly agreed to deliver five bricks, or 250 stamp bags of heroin, according to the criminal complaint.

At 2:28 a.m. the following morning, they met with Caldwell again in the parking lot of the Giant Eagle on Shakespeare Street in Pittsburgh, where he allegedly provided them with five bricks of heroin.

On Feb. 21, officers observed Caldwell arrive at the Houlihan’s parking lot. They approached him and allegedly recovered another five bricks of heroin.

He is charged with felony criminal conspiracy, four counts of felony possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, two counts of felony criminal use of a communication facility, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was placed in Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 31.
