Dorothy V. Miller, 79, of Butler passed away Thursday at Elmcroft Assisted Living in Saxonburg.

She was born Jan. 14, 1933, in Slippery Rock and was the daughter of the late Charles and Cora (McConnell) McCommons.

Dorothy belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 249 and was a former member of the Unionville Presbyterian Church. She worked at Friedman’s Market for 60 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara (Wayne) Nielsen of Butler; a son, Joseph L. Miller of Butler; two grandchildren, Braden and Jacob Miller; a sister, Ruth Graham of Ohio; four brothers, Ben McCommons of Slippery Rock, Clark (Carol) McCommons of Slippery Rock, Mick McCommons of Ohio and Merle McCommons of Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph G. Miller, who died Jan. 31, 2003; two grandchildren; two brothers, Jake and Lloyd McCommons; two sisters-in-law, June and Johanna McCommons; and a brother-in-law, Jim Graham.

MILLER — Friends of Dorothy V. Miller, who passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, will be received at Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Services will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday. The interment will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
