Fire destroys mobile home
CONNOQUENESSING TWP — Fire gutted a mobile home on Spring Valley Road on Wednesday afternoon, but no one was inside at the time.
The fire broke out about 4:30 p.m. in the residence, which had attachments, at 120 Spring Valley Road.
Firefighters from at least five departments needed more than an hour to bring the blaze under control using water from several tanker trucks.
"They had just come home and it was burning. Thankfully, there was no one in the house," said neighbor Kevin Kimmerling, who lives across the street and called 911.
The home of Russ and Connie Kelley, who live there with their 15-year-old daughter Angela, was a total loss, although Chief Lou Zimmerman of the Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Department said he could not make a damage estimate.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Zimmerman is looking at a possible electrical problem.
The family has no insurance, he said.
