State grant will help bring restrooms to Preston Park

BUTLER TWP — Those who enjoy the serene beauty and trails at Preston Park will be pleased to know that funding is in place to add restrooms.

State Rep. Marci Mustello, R-11th, announced this week that the township will receive a $212,500 state grant to build a restroom facility at Preston Park off South Eberhart Road.

The project will require the installation of a sewer line, water hookup and electrical service to the new building along with the accompanying seeding, mulching and grading of the surrounding groundwork.

The total estimated project cost is $250,000.

“We have a park without a restroom, and we have a responsibility to our residents and those with disabilities to provide one,” said Tom Knights, Butler Township manager. “When we approached Rep. Mustello, she quickly and aggressively advocated for funding. We could not have done this without her help.”

Mustello said the project is good for the community.

“I was happy to advocate for this worthwhile project with the support of local government and the Butler Township community,” Mustello said.

It is not known when the project will begin. The grant was approved by Commonwealth Financing Authority.
