Madden cruises to win
BUFFALO TWP — World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series points leader Chris Madden extended that lead Saturday night with a runaway victory at Lernerville Speedway’s Firecracker 100.
Madden started on the pole for the 100-lap race and never lost the lead. He pulled away from the field to pocket the $30,000 winner’s check.
Navigating through lapped traffic, Madden maintained a solid lead. There were two cautions around the 40-lap mark, but trailing cars were unable to make up ground.
The real race was for second place. Mike Marlar claimed that spot, followed by Tyler Erb, Devin Moran and Dale McDowell.
The top local finisher was Sarver’s Mike Norris, who placed 10th. Saturday night capped an impressive weekend for the Lernerville Late Model points leader, who placed sixth in Thursday’s 30-lap feature and won Friday night’s feature.
Other Lernerville regulars in the Firecracker 100 field included Colton Flinner (18th), Jared Miley (21st), Alex Ferree (24th), Ken Schaltenbrand (25th) and Gary Lyle (26th). Schaltenbrand and Lyle were provisional entrants based on the Lernerville points standings.
Mike Maresca won the Uncle Sam 30 feature, followed by Joe Petyak, Bump Hedman, Tommy Beck and John Weaver.
